In January, over 1,000 Builders FirstSource team members, 1,600 customers and 750 suppliers gathered in Las Vegas for the BFS 2023 National Event. The four-day event established itself as an industry-leading tradeshow, complete with expert-led education sessions, next-level exhibits, and world-class entertainment.
A performance by comedian Jim Gaffigan and a motivational talk from Hall of Fame basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski were certainly fun and memorable, but the true highlights of the event were the opportunities to engage with our customers and suppliers, as well as designers, architects, and developers. Additionally, we reinforced our commitment to customer service as well as provided an opportunity for our team to reconnect with each other, many of whom had not seen one another since 2019, while also meeting colleagues in-person for the first time.

Crowds were lined up to meet with BFS digital sales specialists and members of our Paradigm team to see a demo of our Digital Tools and understand how our technology can help their business. THE BUILDERS FIRSTSOURCE HOUSE
What better way to show off BFS’ value-add solutions, including trusses, panels, millwork and READY-FRAME®, than to build a 2,000 SF house on the trade show floor? Using a modified floor plan from our Home Plan Library, our team of talented framers built it in less than two days.
Not only were people able to tour the house, but with a quick scan of a QR code, they could access hundreds of vendor products included in our Home Configure technology. Using their smart phones, they could experience photorealistic interior and exterior 3D visualizations of the finished house and customize them in real time.

EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS
BUILDER CEO PANEL We were proud to host panels with leaders from across the industry to discuss the trends, issues, and the future of building. For instance, in our CEO Panel Discussion, BFS CFO Peter Jackson led a panel with Taylor Morrison President & CEO Sheryl Palmer and Meritage Homes CEO Phillippe Lord to discuss current different risk factors facing the industry as well as the status of the market. BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION WORKFORCE Finding and retaining talent continues to be a major issue in our industry. To discuss strategies and issues in recruiting, BFS CPO Amy Bass Messersmith introduced a panel of Branka Minic, CEO of Building Talent Foundations, Nora Spencer, Founder and CEO of Hope Renovations, and Jon Girod, Owner/Builder of Quail Homes.
The event was a great celebration for the building industry and the feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive. We can’t wait to do it again, and we’re excited to stay connected and engaged with our customers, suppliers, and team members throughout 2023 and beyond.
